The genes are aligned between the pole, since it's involving homologous chromosomes, where all characteristics of chromosomes are the same, it kind of makes sense that identical genes would be aligned between the poles.

Genotype is the alleles (different forms of a gene) which an individual has with respect to a particular characteristic. The Phenotype is how these genes are expressed in an individual.

What is heterozygous? Your inherited characteristics are determined by your genes. Zygosity refers to the similarity of genes for a trait in an organism. If both genes are different, the organism is heterozygous (hetero = different) for that trait. If both genes are the same, the organism is homozyous (homo = same).
