pontiac g6 check engine light car with wrench
The check gages light on the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am means to check temperature, low oil possibly, water. These are to be kept maintained for the car to run properly.
are you sure it's check gauges light or could it be check engine soon? Reason I'm asking is because I just recently purchased 2001 firebird, and check gauges light came, it just needed gas. Then it came on again to change oil. So I changed oil and it went off.
Cylinder missfire perhaps ? Get it scanned.
It is listed in the 1991 Pontiac Firebird Operations Manual
If a check engine light is flashing that means an engine cylinder misfire has been detected
The check engine light has nothing to do with an oil change. The check engine light is reset with a scan tool after repairing the failure that caused it.
service engine light on? Have vehicle scanned to determine problemCheck for vacuum leak
Check the brake fluid...
There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.
It is possible for the check engine light to come on in a Pontiac Transport when using ethanol gasoline because it burns hotter than other gasoline. The check engine light might also come on if the oxygen sensor is bad.
Bad plug wires, there was a recall on the 1998 Firebird 3.8L. GM would only replace each one as they failed. The check engine light should come on, check with ODB II which should indicate the cylinder or cylinders no. that have bad wires.
