are you sure it's check gauges light or could it be check engine soon? Reason I'm asking is because I just recently purchased 2001 firebird, and check gauges light came, it just needed gas. Then it came on again to change oil. So I changed oil and it went off.
It is listed in the 1991 Pontiac Firebird Operations Manual
Cylinder missfire perhaps ? Get it scanned.
To reset the security light on a 1995 Pontiac Firebird, turn the ignition key to the "On" position without starting the engine. Leave it in this position for about 10 minutes until the security light turns off. Afterward, turn the key back to the "Off" position, wait a few seconds, and then start the engine as usual. If the light persists, you may need to check for issues with the vehicle's security system or key.
If a check engine light is flashing that means an engine cylinder misfire has been detected

To check the trouble codes on a 1994 Pontiac Firebird, start by turning the ignition key to the "On" position without starting the engine. Then, locate the diagnostic connector under the dash, usually near the steering column. Use a jumper wire to connect terminals A and B on the connector, and the Check Engine light will begin to flash, indicating the stored trouble codes. Count the flashes to interpret the codes, which can then be referenced in a repair manual or online for further diagnosis.
The check engine light has nothing to do with an oil change. The check engine light is reset with a scan tool after repairing the failure that caused it.

It is possible for the check engine light to come on in a Pontiac Transport when using ethanol gasoline because it burns hotter than other gasoline. The check engine light might also come on if the oxygen sensor is bad.
