You will have to have a engine scanner to do that. But something made it come on and if you did not fix the problem it will just come back on again.

Repairing the fault which is causing the check engine light is the recommended way to go about doing this.
Disconnect the battery for couple minutes, or stop by AutoZone, they can erase it for you for free.
Take it to a mechanic, and have them erase the codes. Auto zone and advance will not do it as they are not mechanics
Autozone will use the Engine Diagnostic Code Reader to read the codes and then ERASE/RESET the engine light. { Phone other autoparts stores to see if they provide similar service).

one way is to take the ground cable loose from the battery. leave it off for a few mins. or if you have a code tester plug it in and hit erase codes.
You must use a Diagnostic code scanner that can erase trouble codes.
