Lunar calendar the 1st month, 1st day of each year, February 26th this year, is the traditional new year for the Chinese.

There are celebrations from the last day of the old year to the 15th day of the new year. During which, family members have large meal together, children fire crackers and fireworks for joy, friends visit each other to send gifts with their best wishes main streets and buildings are well decorated, red color widely used makes the atmosphere warm and exciting. All these activities carry one belief, that is bad things gone with old year, new year has a good beginning.

Chinese New Year would be a Holiday in China but maybe not in the USA. (Maybe if you see it on the news the it would be a Holiday or a national Holiday)
