Cities in the Republic of Ireland?

It is usually based on the size and area. What might be called cities in some other countries are often just towns in Ireland. Some countries regard a place with just a few thousand people as a city, but that would not be big enough in Ireland, and it would be regarded as a town. Having a Cathedral is not always a reason either. There are towns in Ireland that have Cathedrals, but would be too small to be regarded as a city.
