Civilizations in dry Mexican deserts grew crops using?
Mexican food is ethnic and authentic and from Mexican recipes using Mexican ingredients. Tex-Mex is what happens when an American makes a Mexican recipe, but adjusts it using American ingredients. The advantages were the two rivers, the Tigris and the Euphrates. The disadvantage was the hot desert climate. The only way to grow food their was using irrigation, but that slowly polluted the soil with salt until the soil could no longer support crops, and the early Mesopotamian civilizations fell apart.
It was mainly for transportation purposes. Being close to water allowed for materials and food stuffs to be transported from place to place using boats, before the invention of vehicles for the road. Also, being near the water made it easier to access water not only for drinking purposes, but for watering crops, washing clothes and other purposes.
