If your SPI MP3 player will not charge correctly, simply turn off the MP3 player and hit the 'reset' button. You then will want to try to charge the player again.
You can find real cheap brands like coby and sansa that sell inexpensive mp3 players. The problem is they don't last as long or work as good as name brands. You are better off in the long run buying a nice brand mp3 player.

I've seen a few answers that state 'hold down the play button'. Although that eventually worked for me, it took about five or more minutes which is unsatisfactory. I even tried using the off/on button and it would not work, it should be as easy to turn on as it is to turn off, not the case with the Ematic MP3 player.
try to turn it over and take out the battery
hold the play and pause button until the light stops flashing
Personally i would turn it off then turn it back it on if it was frozen i would run the battery down and charge it and turn it back on good luck
