The Franklin Half Dollar was minted between 1948 and 1963. They are struck in 90% silver with a weight of 12.5 grams. The actual silver weight (ASW) is 10.25 grams. The obverse (front) of the coin is a bust of Ben Franklin and the reverse (back) has a large image of the Liberty Bell with a small eagle just to the right side of the bell. It was designed by John R. Sinnock with the help of Gilroy Roberts, as Sinnock died before it was complete. More than 465,000,000 were minted over the 15 years of production. The silver value of this coin is just over $9 with silver selling at $25,08 per ounce,
