The upper Sonoran zone includes antelopes, California Condors, California Thrashers, bushtits, brown-footed woodrats, and Ring-tailed cats.
There is a transition zone, where Colombian Black-tailed Deer, Gray Foxes, bobcats, mountain lions, black bear, the Roosevelt Elk, garter snakes and rattlesnakes, water puppies, redwood salamanders, towhees, hummingbirds, chicadees and kingfishers thrive.
The Canadian zone is home to the Mountain weasel, Snowshoe hare, and chipmunk populations. There are also populations of the Sierra chicadee, the blue-fronted jay, Townsend's Solitaire, the water ouzel, and the Sierra Hermit Thrush.
