Revolution and rotation mean two different things.

The period of Revolution is how long a planet takes to orbit the Sun, and is commonly known as a Year. So the first part of what you are asking is to compare the lengths of a year on Mercury and Neptune. 1 Mercury Year = 88 days = 0.24 Earth Years. 1 Neptune Year = 165 Earth Years. So if we compare them we get 0.24/165 = 688 so the Neptunian Year is about 688 times the length of the Mercury Year.

The period of Rotation is how long a planet takes to turn on its axis and is commonly known as a day. 1 Mercury Day* = 58.65 Earth Days. 1 Neptune Day = 19.1 Earth Hours. If we compare the two, we get 58.65 days/19.1 hrs = 73.7. So a Mercury Day is 73.7 times longer than a Neptune Day.

Why? Because of their orbits and their speed of rotation.

* some sources quote a different length of a day on Mercury

Compare the period of revolution between mercury and plutowhat is the ratio between their period of rotation and why?

IT IS not The same Period of rotation Because tthe mercury have rotation g9 days and the pluto have a rotation 6.4 days so it is not the same BY:JULLIA TUTANES :P

How many differences between rotation and revolution?

The revolution is simply the movement of the earth which brings about year rotation brings about night

What is the difference between a planet's period of rotation and period of revolution?

All planets in our solar system vary in the time it takes them to complete a revolution. This is due to their differing distances from the sun. As far as rotation goes, the time varies from nine hours and fifty minutes for Jupiter to 244 days for Venus to make a like rotation.

What is the difference between the earth's rotation and the earths revolution. What causes the earth to have seasons. What causes the earth to have days and nights?

Those are three different questions; you would be better of asking them as three different questions on this site. The difference between rotation and revolution is that "rotation" refers to a movement of an object around its own axis; while "revolution" refers to a movement around an external object or axis - in this case, around the Sun.

What are the similarities between rotation and revolution?

well the difference is rotation is around an axis in the center of a body. revolution is the movement of a body around an axis outside of the body ( earth is the body then the sun is the axis.
