A capillary flow viscometer, or Ostwald viscometer, consists of a U-shaped glass tube held vertically in a controlled temperature bath. It was named after its inventor, Wilhelm Ostwald.
Capillary Attraction
Thet resistor opposes the flow of current through it becoz of its internal construction. Its material has opposing property.
the velocity of water flow within a drainage pipe; the equation is V=L/t L= Length t=time. Then the flow rate; Fr=A*V, Where A= sectional area and V = velocity.
The principle of a fuse is to have the flow to the conductor. This will give it the power.
The throttling devise can be the valve or the copper tubing that allows the flow of the refrigerant through very small opening also called as the orifice. The throttling devices allow restricted flow of the refrigerant. The throttling devices are also called as the expansion valves because when the refrigerant passes through them the pressure of the refrigerant drops down or it expands..Capillary tube is one of the most commonly used throttling devices in the refrigeration and the air conditioning systems. The capillary tube is a copper tube of very small internal diameter. It is of very long length and it is coiled to several turns so that it would occupy less space. The internal diameter of the capillary tube used for the refrigeration and air conditioning applications varies from 0.5 to 2.28 mm (0.020 to 0.09 inches). Capillary tube used as the throttling device in the domestic refrigerators, deep freezers, water coolers and air conditioners.
A Capilliary Viscometer measures the speed at which a lquid can be forced through a narrow tube (a capillary). Thicker liquids (high viscosity like treacle) will take a lot longer to squeeze through the tube than a thin liquid (like white spirit). If you take a fluid (liquid) like blood it could be put through a Viscometer like this to see if your blood was too thick or thin. Also it could be used to check if your engine oil met up to spec. Polymers tend to be quite viscous so measurements using a capillary viscometer can be quite slow. The second issue is both an advantage and disadvantage: many polymers have viscosity which vary with shear forces, in other words the viscosity changes with flow speed. A single speed is not sufficient to determine the viscosity behavior of the polymer. On the other hand, you can control the speed so with multiple measurements you can build up the viscosity profile quite nicely.
While measuring viscosity through Ostwald viscometer, diameter of the tube should be small and the flow rate should be slow and steady.
Because of abundant capillary flow.
Capillary action is bad if you want to keep two liquids separate. Capillary action is difficult to control in terms of flow rate.
Capillary Attraction
The most important force causing net water flow across capillary walls is the hydrostatic pressure of capillary blood. These walls are composed of a single layer of curved cells.
Slow flow speed in the capillary increases the efficiency of diffusion. In addition, the thin wall of the capillary helps substances to pass through efficiently.
By the process of diffusion.
A capillary rheometer is used so that you can measure the rate of blood flow from your capillaries. Also, you can measure the rate of the blood flow inside of it, which can help you tell whether or not you have a broken one.
