DERRRRRRRRRRRR
John Cabot
He proves that Columbus and Cabot has not found Asia but a unknown continent. Which is now America.
Cabot's and Vespucci's explorations were similar to Columbus's in that they sought new trade routes and lands for European powers, driven by the desire for wealth and expansion. Like Columbus, both navigators undertook voyages across the Atlantic Ocean, contributing to the European understanding of the Americas. While Columbus famously reached the Caribbean, Cabot explored parts of North America, and Vespucci's voyages helped clarify the distinction between the New World and Asia, ultimately leading to the naming of America after him. All three played crucial roles in the Age of Exploration, reshaping global trade and interactions.
John Cabot claimed the Atlantic Coast for England
John Cabot, Amerigo Vespucci, and Vasco Núñez de Balboa set out on explorations across the Atlantic Ocean primarily in search of new trade routes, wealth, and territories. Cabot aimed to find a western passage to Asia, while Vespucci sought to chart the New World and understand its geography, contributing to the realization that it was a separate continent. Balboa, on the other hand, is known for his expedition that led to the discovery of the Pacific Ocean, driven by the desire for exploration and riches. Their voyages were motivated by the broader European Age of Exploration, marked by competition for resources and territorial expansion.
I think it was this guy named Ferdinand Magellan im not sure
a German mapmaker named Martin Waldseemüller named America after the Italian explorer and merchant, Amerigo Vespucci. Another version of the story of the naming of America is based on the voyages of John Cabot (who made the maps upon which Vespucci based his) and the man who financed Cabot's voyages, Richard Americ (also written Amerike). Although none of Cabot's original maps exist any more. It was reported at the time that he wrote the name America on them in honour of his financial benefactor. Two points that speak against Waldseemüller naming America after Amerigo Vespucci are: It was not practice to name countries after "commoners" using their first names. This right was reserved for royalty. In later editions of his maps, Waldseemüller attempted change the name of the new continent to "Terra Incognita" or "unknown land", which he would not have done had he actually named it after Vespucci. For more information on the theory that America is derived from Americ, see the elated link below
