If coolant needs to be added and the owner does not know what kind is already in the engine, it should be drained and flushed before adding any new. Most coolants are appropriate, but it is not recommended to mix brands or types. Use a coolant safe for aluminum blocks or buy Yamaha brand coolant specifically for your model. The coolant should be premixed 50/50 or if it is not premixed, mix it 60% coolant and 40% water before adding.

DEXCOOL OR LONG LIFE,IF ITS NOT PREMIXED BE SUR TO MIX IT,60% COOLANT 40% WATER.

50/50 50% Dex Coolant and 50% Distilled Water. This is assuming you did not buy a premixed gallon of coolant. This will protect you to -40 F.

Do you mean overheating? Is steam coming out? It could just be a bad thermostat, if so, replace it. Have you checked your coolant level? Have you changed your coolant? You may possibly need a new water pump (change the serpentine belt at the same time).
