Heating? 5-6, depending on the size of your wood, how dry, what type of wood, etc. Start small- 2 lengths of wood on the bottom, one above. Add new wood to the rear, where it will allow heat to radiate into the room. Gradually increase until you reach the effect or heat level you want. Easy does it.
