any time you have a large chunk of rock floating around a collision would be ugly. luckily most asteriods are trapped in the asteroid belt. meteors are debris coming in contact with the atmosphere. such heat is involved from friction that even marble sized meteors give quite the light show. it would take a huge one to break through the atmosphere to make contact with the earth's surface
Yes, they can be. Most small asteroids usually do not make it through our Earth's atmosphere because they burn and perish, but if it were a bigger asteroid, it can greatly affect us depending on the mass of the rock, the impact that it hits, and where it hits. Like i said the chances of an asteroid hitting Earth are very slim. If it were a big rock to hit a main city like LA or New York,it would have a great deal on casualties because of the rocks size and the impact from it. Populated areas like i mention before LA, New York, Las Vegas, Houston, any big cities that has lots of population would be a great deal on us. Some rocks may be larger than others, but once the rock breaks through the Earth's atmosphere, more likely it will still be small because most of the rock has burned up.
Not all of us, the smart ones will be members of the Global Asteroid Protection Society.
Yes, many are, we just dont know for sure when they will hit us.
it depends on how big the meteorite is. comets do not hit earth.
No.
Asteroids & meteors are celestial bodies which could'nt make into a planet.there sizes ranges from about yard to about a football field & they travel at great speeds.and when they come into contact to earth this whole of kinetic energy is converted into a huge amount of energy which could be eqivalent to some tonnes of TNT & could destroy life on earth. hence, these always pose a threat to mass extinction.
Scientist say that a large sum of asteroids did a big bang and the asteroids created the lava core in the center of the Earth, when the Earth spun the heat cooled down so that bits of rock and environment could form. So according to scientist asteroids created Earth. Basically he means that earth was made from rock
It is possible for comets and asteroids to hit Earth, but they are extremely rare events.
Asteroids orbit the Sun, and some of them can cross the Earth's orbit.
Apollo asteroids have elliptical orbits that cross Earth's orbit
it can destroy earth
Yes. To destroy asteroids and protect the earth you must aim for the asteroids with nukes or the laser beam house.
The earth has the technology today to in the future defend itself from meterors and asteroids. It takes a lot more than rockets to destroy meteors and asteroids.

Yes, nukes(nuclear weapons) can travel up into space to destroy asteroids and huge flying rocks.
a giant solar flare could technically destroy earth, but a solar flare could not get that large. however, theoretically, before our sun "dies," it will expand and destroy the earth.
destroy
Asteroids that occasionally cross the orbit of Earth are known as Near Earth Asteroids. Asteroids that both cross the orbit of the Earth and are large enough to pose a significant threat in the event of an impact are known as Potentially Hazardous Asteroids.
asteroids vary in size from rock size to earth size and bigger.
It could destroy the earth, if it was a super flare. The next solar flare is in 2011 or 2012, but it wont harm the earth. It will mess up radios tough.
Yes, super flares can destroy the Earth. And they can happen at any time, even now.
