Can computers or robots control the world in the future?

Computers and robots driven by computers require a programmer to specifically give them a set of instructions or parameters in which to execute a set of instructions. Without humans, computers and robots can not function for long. Not to mention there are many jobs that require more critical thinking than computers are currently capable of. If somehow, in a distant future it was possible to create a perfect artificial intelligence that could match the abilities of the human brain, then yes, in theory robots could control the world. This will not happen during our lifetime (and will probably never happen because the human brain and thought processes are very complicated)

Who invented robotics?

That depends on what you consider to be a robot. In Ancient times mechanical device existed which could move and might be considered robots. In 1495, Leonardo Da Vinci is believed to be the first person to design a humanoid robot, a mechanical knight that could move its arms and head. But the term robot was not invented until 1921 when Karel Capek coined the term in the play R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots). The term comes from the word "robota," which is a Czech term for forced labor. In 1954, George Devol created the Unimate, an industrial robotic arm that lifts hot metal and stacks it.

We're becoming overwhelmingly dependent on computers is this dependence on computers a good thing or should we be more suspicious of their benefit?

i personally think it may be good, but it could also be bad because we then would rely on computers for everything.
