You cannot put a black kuhli loach in a 5 gallon tank at all, they need a 10 gallon tank at the very least. The maximum size that this loach gets is about 4-5 inches, so a 5 gallon is out of the question. As far as I have read, the black kuhli loaches like to be in schools of about 3-4, and you wouldn't want to have them alone, since the are community fish, they can go with platies, most tetra's, mollies, swordtail's, and small plecos. they just can't be alone or with fish bigger than them that will eat them.

hope this answers you question.

Would a kuhli loach eat an African dwarf frog?

i dont know but recently ive been asking around as i have a community tank with 6 danios 6 rummynose tetras 3 swordtails 1 hillstream loach 4 salt and pepper corys and 2 cherry shrimps i want a african dwarf frog and a kuhli loach but i have read up on websites that frogs eat kuhli loaches because they think they are worms(theere food) does any1 know any more info on this topic? An African Dwarf Frog WILL EAT the Kuhli Loach, this is a fact; I witnessed my lone African Dwarf Frog eat my new Kuhli in 1 minute this morning, during her normal feeding hour!!.... I was waiting for her to come out of her cave to give her the bloodworms, Kuhli went in, she turned towards it and gulped him down; then retreated to the back of her cave:( Kuhli was a good three times longer than the frog, and MUCH BIGGER than her standard bloodworms...

Can you mix a flying gecko ptychozoon kuhli with a long tailed grass lizard takydromus sexlineatus in a 20 gallon tank?

The short answer is 'no'. The long answer is, you should never house different species of reptiles together, as they may transmit disease or parasites to one another that the other has no immunity to. Additionally, they may compete over resources, or fight, which is stressful. Reptiles do not want to have companions in their enclosure, so do not do it. In this particular case, I believe that the flying gecko would eventually try to make a meal of the grass lizard (or at least, eat its tail).

Are khuli loachs cold water fish?

A Kuhli loach prefers water temperatures of 75F to 82F, so a bit warm to tropical; you should add a heater to your aquarium if you don't already have one, and set it's temperature to maintain it somewhere in that range.

Can Malaysian golden geckos be in the same cage as flying gecko?

The Golden gecko (G.Ulikovskii) and the flying gecko (Ptychozoon kuhli) both come from the same natural environment, although reptile species should not be mixed. Within the same terrarium it's hard to be sure no bullying is happening in the tank or aggression shown.

Freshwater fish for a twelvegallon system?

COmmunity fish would be simplest in a tank this size. Mollies, platies, sword tails, fancy tailed guppies, dwarf guroumis, Glo fish, danios, tetras, small catfish such as Cory cats, upside down cats, banjo cats, smaller plecos like false butterflys, clowns smaller types of loaches such as dojo, kuhli. Though you could do semi aggressive barbs such as tiger, green and so forth. Or you could do a couple of killifish who are very colorful and many tpes don't exceed 3 to 4 inches full grown. This all I can think of off the top of my head.

What should you do about your overstocked tank?

I have an 8 gallon tank, first time owner, and didn't do enough research when buying it. I have 30 neon tetras 5 lemon tetras, 2 guppies, 3 Kuhli loach and one crowntail betta. I've seen online similar situations, and people saying that they'll choke, and get aggressive and whatnot, but they all seem to get a long fine, it doesn't LOOK overcrowded, as it's a fairly tall tank. It's been planted and whatnot, and it's got a good filter. They're all living fairly peacefully, but it seems to be quite a big deal online. I'd like to avoid abuse, I understand that this is a big deal, and it was a mistake on my behalf.
