The crankshaft position sensor on a 97 GM Sonoma 2.2 engine is located on the lower right side of the engine. It is near the ignition control module.
Pretty sure it's at the front end of the crank.
The crankshaft sensor is located on the passenger side of the engine, close to the coil pack. It is easier to reach it from under a raised vehicle.
The sensor is down on the front of the oil pan just behind the crankshaft pully, which is located at the front of the engine.
Bottom of the timing case on battery side..... look for the lowest wire connector in this area ...... best to get at from underneath.

Check the Sonoma crank position first. If the sensor is bad then there will be no spark from the coil.
The MAP Sensor on the GMC Sonoma is located in the engine compartment just to the left of the alternator. The MAP Sensor is usually colored silver or shows a gold tint.
On a 1998 it is about 3/4 of the way down the drivers side of the motor (4 cyl.) Middle of the block.
Assuming the engine is a 4.3L, bank 1 would be on the drivers side.
The temperature sensor on a 1998 Sonoma is located in the engine compartment just to the left of the distributor. Look for a plastic part that looks like a bolt that is held on with a clip and a small wire harness. It is on the top of the manifold.
