1980. You can research Ruger Dates of Manufacture on their website. Under Customer service, historical, select gun type, then model, and the serial number ranges are there.
AROUND $400. Many of the "special editions" do not have a greatly enhanced resale value- but nice to have if you are a member of THAT department.
The U.S. Mint does not make "proof mint sets" of any year. The two types of sets have very different coins in them. A 1980 PROOF set has a current value of $5.00 and was issued for $10.00. A MINT set has a value of $8.00 and was issued for $9.00.
Value of ANY gun is based on exact make, model, accessories and condition. A well used pencil barreled Mk 1 might be $100, an excellent condition heavy barrel with target sights might be $375 or so.
