The model 111 was a Daisy Western Carbine (Not a Red Ryder) It was made from 1963 to 1978. The Daisy No: 111 model 40 (Not Model 111) was a Red Ryder and was made from 1940 to 1952.
The red ryder no 111 was made from 1939 to 1971. Then it became the 1938 model from then on to today
Daisy made a model 94 Carbine from 1954 - 1962, they also made a model 111 western carbine from 1963-1978. I can find no information on a Red Ryder 1938 carbine. However the 1938 Red Ryder is still in production.

Blue paint finish. Screws are slotted. This first one was made between 1972 and 78. A daisy BB rifle actually made in 1938 would be a Number.101 model 36 or a Number. 102 model 36 made between 1936 and 42. Another was to tell the older Daisy's is the lever action is aluminum not plastic. an original Red Ryder ( First version ) in fair to good condition is worth around $75. A current Red Ryder in Good condition is worth around $25.
