A bad relay switch could be the culprit if dash lights remain on after engine starts in a Toyota. Cold weather can also cause these lights to stay on after the engine starts.
What year and model? Under what conditions? The dash lights are designed to stay on in certain models. Saab 900s from about 1987 on will have dash lights come on any time the ignition switch is in the ON position, whether or not the headlight switch is turned to ON.
They're kind of like a pilot light for the engine.
Check for a loose ground wire - sounds like lights are backfeeding searching for ground
This sounds like an issue with a fuse. In newer sunfires, if the Radio/ACC fuse blows, no indoor lights work and nothing will turn itself off when the car is off (meaning your daytime lights will stay on even with no key in the ignition). It's a 20w minifuse, walmart sells a pack for about $3.50.
So what is the problem with my stupid car with the lights on the dashlight problem?
I have same problem have you figured it out yet?
i own an 03 concord limited. my dash lights except for the miles and transmission positioning go off. the come on and stay on longer the colder it is what is wrong with this car
To force the dash lights to stay bright on a 1984 Corvette, simply turn the dial to its highest setting. The dial can be found to the left of the steering wheel. On some makes, however, the dial is located near the odometer.
make sure the dimming switch to the left of the wheel on the dash is set one click down from the highest level, a friend of mine has a sunfire and for the longest time he'd ride around with all the lights on because he didn't know the switch was too far up!
Try turning them off. This is done with the dimmer control of the dash lights.
