Check your cables and the MA/SL/CS jumper on the hard drive. You may also want to clear and reset the BIOS.
This has solved problems for me on GX series Dell computers.
Yes
Not knowing which model Dell/iBook/Disk is going to limit the response but if the disk from your Dell is compatible with your iBook it is possible switch it over. Note that the iBooks used an ATA interface rather than a SATA interface.
Use the blue Dell system restore disk that came with it.
no, it doesn't have a disk drive to play compact disks or dvd's it is a netbook. Most netbooks don't have disk drives.
Not sure
No. The disk that came with the Dell laptop does not contain all the files that a full Windows XP installation disk comes with. Instead it will contain the files needed to install Windows XP on your Dell laptop. As Windows XP installs it will detect the hardware that your computer is constructed from (including the motherboard and processor) and install files that are specifically for that hardware. Your HP computer will have different hardware to the Dell, so the installation that is suitable for the Dell will not work properly on the HP.
If you have lost your restore disk, you need to contact Dell to see if they an supply you with replacements. OR just go to http://www.overlapsystems.com for the best price for a Real Dell Restore CD.

Dell computer recovery discs are designed to revert the Dell machine for which they were made back to factory specifications. Think of this disk as having the ability to go backwards in time, and reverting the Dell computer to exactly the way it was when first removed from the box. Of course, any changes made since then will be eliminated, so it's a great idea to backup the machine first!
When the hard disk is dysfunctional or has crashed, the laptop cannot detect it. The error message 'No hard disk drive 0' will appear as a result.
The disk itself will work, but a Dell OEM product key is licensed only for distribution with (and use on) a Dell PC, so there would be no way to legally activate the operating system if it is installed via the Dell OEM disc.
Yes, Dell computers can have different casings, disk drives, and also other things if you have a laptop including the cover, keyboard, mouse pad and buttons, and battery.
