As part of their recruitment and security process, Amtrak's vetting includes comprehensive background checks, including searches of police records for convictions. Whilst fingerprinting had not been the norm in the past, as a matter of enhanced security, Amtrak has looked at including fingerprinting for those who have not completed comprehensive identity checks in the past, such as passport applications, etc.
