Slaves would often commit suicide by jumping overboard or refusing to eat.
About 15% of the Africans died at sea.
Slaves were transported in the most horrible and inhumane way possible. They were crammed together so tightly that they almost couldn't move. They were fed the most horrible food only to keep them strong so the crew would get money at the other end. As the slaves were only taken out of the hold to be exercised all of their urine and excrement stayed where it was. Many of the slaves caught diseases such as dysentery and died. Most unfortunately, some of the women, and even children, were also used for the "personal gratification" of crew members. The slaves were beaten for the smallest things often until they died. On average only half of the slaves who set off from Africa got to the Americas alive. Horrible.
Maybe the conditions were more along the lines of this around a hundred years ago: Shackles dangling from the roof of the middeck, and those shackles were used to hold the slaves hands for most of the ride, unless they were crammed into cubbyholes, with only a couple of inches to roll over.
They were forced to not even speak, with a possible flogging as a punishment. The good food was saved for the sailors and the slaves got the hard bread, or the bread crust. The only time they were fed good food was right before going to the trading center. No showers. No personal hygiene or free time allowed. Dirt caused disease and malnourishment led to slaves starving to death. Yeahh, and if they are sick or dying the slave keepers of the ship would just throw them overboard!! Gahhh
It was really bad. the slave traders had the slaves crampe in their ship like cargo and when the slaves had to go to the toilet then they would have to do it in a bucket with thousands of other people watching. They court desiese and some went mad.
Slave ships were horrible, ridden with diseases and rats. Negroes were hardly fed at all, basically the equivalent of a small portion once a day and expected to find 'space' for there own faeces. They slept on the floor with no mats or blankets and over half of them died on the journey. Hope this helps but this is only from the top of my head and im thirteen. ;)

slave 2 slave 1 - slave 2 is only in the books after slave 1 is destroyed. in the movies you can see the mandilorian script on Fett's ship that clearly says Slave 1

No, it was a pirate ship (or maybe an illegal privateer), which captured a slave ship. The cargo was then treated as captured treasure.
The Clotilde is regarded as the last "slave ship" to bring slaves to America from Africa. It sank in Mobile Bay (Mobile, Alabama).Other Slave Ships:Henrietta MarieWandererWildfireLord Ligonier
The crew of the ship slept below decks on a different part of the ship. Sometimes in areas on the deck that were covered.
Slave traders used every available space to fit as many slaves as possible on a slave ship.
