Anyway, Great Plains farming saw revolutionary changes with new machines, crops, pesticides and irrigation. These resulted in greater efficiency. In other words it took fewer farmers to produce the same amount of food. - ChaCha :)
Pike inaccurately describe the treeless Great Plains as a desert. This led many Americans to believe that the Plains were useless for farming. I hope this is answer helps :)
