In an ionic bond, one atom or radical donates one or more electrons to another atom or radical, and both become ions as a result, one being positively charged and the other being negatively charged.

In a covalent bond, a group of atoms and/or radicals share electrons. Generally the sharing is unequal, in that the electron does not spend an equal amount of time with each atom or radical, but nonetheless, the shared electron does not actually leave one atom or radical for another, unlike the ionic bond.

They are covalent bonds.

How is a chemical bonding formed?

There are two types of chemical bonds. Covalent bonds occur when two atoms share electrons. Ionic bonds are formed when a positively charged atom binds with a negatively charged atom.

What are two types bonds that hold the atoms within a compound together?

The three types of chemical bonds that hold the atoms within a compound together are Ionic bonds, Covalent bonds, and Polar covalent bonds.

Chemical boding: covalent, ionic, hydrogen bond.

How can one describe the chemical bonds that occur between the two atoms of hydrogen to the one atom of oxygen in a molecule of water?

These are termed to be 'covalent bonds'.

What are the main types of chemical bonds?

The main types of chemical bonds are ionic bonds, covalent bonds, and metallic bonds. Ionic bonds form between a metal and a nonmetal through the transfer of electrons. Covalent bonds occur when atoms share electrons, typically between two nonmetals. Metallic bonds are found in metals and involve a sea of delocalized electrons surrounding positively charged metal cations.

What are the two main types of chemical bonds?

The two main types of chemical bonds are covalent bonds and ionic bonds. Covalent bonds involve the sharing of electrons between atoms, while ionic bonds involve the transfer of electrons from one atom to another, resulting in the attraction between positively and negatively charged ions.

What kind of bond holds together the atoms within the molecule?

Chemical bonds hold together the atoms within a molecule. The most common types of chemical bonds are covalent bonds and ionic bonds. Covalent bonds involve the sharing of electrons between atoms, while ionic bonds involve the transfer of electrons from one atom to another.

What are the two types of bonds seen in polymers?

The two types of bonds seen in polymers are covalent bonds, which are strong chemical bonds formed between atoms within the polymer chain, and non-covalent bonds, which are weaker interactions like hydrogen bonds or van der Waals forces between polymer chains.
