it has bone marrow
wierd
you can describe your friends by how they act on the outside, what you know about their inside, and what makes you like them for them. My friends are quirky and delightfully so IOW not the status quo, individuals
A verterbrate animal has a bone on the outside like a spine.. but im guessing an athropod has an inside one? :D
it has bone marrow
spongy
If the spongy bone was on the outside, people would look puffy or jelly like fillings. They're likely to be very sensitive to every little touch. Plus if an injury would occur the damage to spongy bone would cause less production of RBC's or permanent damage if continuously damaged. Spongy bone is lighter, softer and weaker then compact bone, but it has greater surface area and much more vascular, so it needs to be protected at al times and that's why we need compact bone to be on the outside because its stronger and stiffer then the spongy bone.
Most bones consist of two types of bone: the cortical bone is the hard smooth bone on the outside and the cancellous bone is on the inside. The cancellous bone is spongey and fibrous and fills the medulla cavity of the bone. So yes, they do have a filled cavity, but it's most evident in long bones like the femur or humerus.
As the names suggest, compact bone is solid-looking, and forms the outer layers of all bone (and the shafts in long bones). Spongy bone looks like sponge, with small holes, and is found on the inside of bones and the expanded heads of long bones. As the names suggest, spongy bone is softer than the solid, compact bone. With the naked eye, you can see that the compact bone is smooth and located around the outside of a cross-section of bone. Spongy bone, on the other hand, is located on the inside and is very porous, like a sponge.

Question is unclear. you must specify or describe what the bone looks like in order for an answer.
