The translucent menu bar can be turned off in the Desktop section of Desktop & Screen Saver options in System Preferences.

Either you right click on it and say "set as background" or you right click on your desktop, go down to preferences, and I think display settings, and there should be an option for setting wallpaper.
The desktop is the working area of the Windows 7 screen. This is where you can store your shortcuts for programs that you use.
Click on the folder - that's the installation file. It will 'unpack' itself into a new directory, and place shortcuts on your desktop & start menus. Once it has installed, you can delete that folder from your desktop.

You can change the language displayed in Google Earth. Click Tools > Options then click 'General' tab and pick the language setting. Note the first entry 'System Default' corresponds to the language used by your computer.
