yes Alexander graham bell invented the photophone along with the telephone which made his rich and famous very fast.

It has been suggested that Elisha Gray invented the telephone and lodged his patent at the same office, and just before Bell. The diagrams on Bell's application, look uncannily like Gray's. Although Gray applied before Bell, the credit went to Bell.
