Techinally yes. The Battle of Buena Vista was the largest battle involing Arkansas. 20,000 men attacked Arkansas part of the Army. Archibald Yell (an AR military leader)ordered his troops to retreat. The men basically dropped their guns and ran. After Yell Died John Roane claimed he led the army to victory because he basically turned them around to face the enemy. Santa Anna (leader of the Mexican Army) was basically forced to surrender his claims on Texas. In the mean time, General Albert Pike (another military leader from AR) claimed that he led the men to victory because while Yell and Roane's troops were retreating he ordered them to fight.
