Anne had a character that would always find some good in even the worst situations but no, she was not always happy. And who would blame her, being cooped up for all that time in a virtual prison. In her diary she regularly mentions bouts of feeling depressed, and having fights with family members whose nerves of course were also frayed.

∙ 13y agoOne could argue that up until the time when Margot died - and Anne thought Margot was the last surviving family member besides herself (Anne did not know her father was still alive) her attitude was excellent - almost superhuman. But with Margot's death, Anne (thinking she was the only family member left alive) seems to have lost all hope - and she died shortly after.
