Ross was a woman in 1700's and women had no rights nor could they vote. She was a seamstress and that is all. The story about her sewing the first flag is wrong and written after her death by her grandson. The first flag was made in 1776 for the navy and Congress has recognized this as a historical fact. The first woman to run for the office of Vice President was Geraldine Farro and that was over a 100 years after Ross.
