Cinderpaw(pelt) was crippled when she went to get a message from Tigerclaw(star), there was a trap for Bluestar, but it trapped Cinderpaw(pelt). Cinderpaw(pelt) trying run pass the Thunderpath and got hit my a monster and her leg was crippled.

Cinderpelt was hit by a monster (car) when she was an apprentice, which caused severe damage to her leg. Despite extensive treatment by Leafpool, her leg could not be saved, and she was left permanently crippled.
