The dates of Henry Hudson's birth and death are not certain, but it is believed he was between 40 and 50 years old in 1611, when he presumably died along with his son when they were set adrift in Hudson Bay by mutineers. It is possible that they were killed instead. The best estimate is 45 to 46 years old (born 1565).

He discovered today's Hudson River and Hudson Bay while he was looking for the North-west passage, a very large sea in north-eastern Canada connected with the North Atlantic by the Hudson Strait. It is a sea route between the Atlantic and the Pacific along the northern coast of the USA.
Henry Hudson was the first European to sail up to the Atlantic Coast.

Along the Northeast coast
He didn't find the river, but he sailed along the Hudson River, thinking it was the Northwest Passage, a water route to the Indies. He went there twice, and the second time his ship was froze during the winter. The crew was upset and sent Henry Hudson, his young son, and a few loyal men away in a boat. the reason they did this was because if they sailed back after killing Hudson, Hudson's son would tell on the crew. The crew didn't want to kill Hudson's son, though, so they sent them off in a boat. they were never seen again.
