yes Ireland had a referendum. in fact they had 2 the first one caused so much chaos many irish thought it was a mistake. after they made a few ammendments the 2nd referendum went fine the euro was apopted to their currency.

There was no direct referendum on joining the Euro. It was not a constitutional issue. It would have been one of the proposals among other agreements that Ireland would have signed up to. The joining of the Euro was an option and not all European Union member countries have done so.
