Jesus died on the cross and resurrected on Easter Day. After that, God wanted him in heaven as he was also half god and so Jesus ascended into heaven without dying and is still alive watching over us with God and guiding us. After Jesus died to this world and was resurrected he ascended into heaven where sits at the right hand of the father.

According to The Bible, he continued his work for forty days then ascended to heaven.

AnswerThe answer to this question depends on which biblical source is relied on. There is no extra-biblical evidence that can be used, and no extra-biblical evidence that there was a resurrection.

Paul, in his epistles, appears to have believed that the resurrection of Jesus and his ascension to heaven were one and the same event.

The earliest of the gospels, the Gospel of Mark, originally ended at verse 16:8, when the young man told the women that Jesus was risen, and they fled in terror, telling no one. Thus, the first account that attempts to tell us of the resurrection of Jesus gives no indication that he was ever seen on earth again. The "Long Ending" (there was also a "Short Ending" at one stage) was added much later to say that the risen Jesus appeared to "the two" on the road and to the disciples.

Matthew's Gospel says that Jesus met the two women on the road and told them to ask the disciples to go to Galilee, where they would see him. He later met the disciples in a mountain in Galilee.

Luke's Gospel says that Jesus met the two men on the road and then with the disciples at a meal in Jerusalem, before taking them out near Bethany, where he was seen being taken up bodily to heaven, on the evening following his resurrection.

John's Gospel says that Jesus met Mary Magdalene in the garden near the sepulchre, where she mistook him for the gardener. He later met the disciples twice in Jerusalem and then by the Sea of Galilee.

Acts of the Apostles simply says that Jesus remained on earth for forty days and told the disciples to remain in Jerusalem and await the Holy Spirit, after which they saw him taken up bodily to heaven.

Christian tradition is that Jesus did not die a second time, but ascended to heaven. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark and John have nothing to say on the matter, but the author traditionally known as Luke says that Jesus rose bodily to heaven. In Luke's Gospel, this occurred near Bethany on the evening of his resurrection. In Acts of the Apostles, written by the same author some time later, Jesus rose bodily to heaven after forty days.

Jesus spent another 40 days with his disciples after his resurrection. However, there isn't very much recorded about this time. He probably continued to disciple the 11 remaining as seen in the last chapter of John, but his most famous words after his resurrection were said when he issued what is often referred to as the great commission in Matthew 28:18-20.

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
