Apart from the author of Luke's Gospel, the other evangelists seem unaware that Jesus ascended bodily into heaven. Arguably, Luke is the most influential gospel in the New Testament, and it says that Jesus rose bodily into heaven near Bethany, on the evening of his resurrection. Acts of the Apostles, by the same author but somewhat later, changes the detail, saying that the risen Jesus remained on earth for forty days before he was taken up into heaven.
For non-Christians, no, Jesus did not really rise up into heaven.
The other three gospels said nothing of Jesus physically leaving earth and rising up to heaven. However, the 'Long Ending' of Mark (verses 16:9-20), added long after the Gospel was written, was more or less written around Luke's ending, so that verse 16:19 says that he was taken up bodily to heaven, apparently on the evening of his resurrection. (Mark's Gospel originally ended at verse 16:8.)
Christ is currently in Heaven. On Judgement Day, however, He will return to earth. So no, Christ Jesus did not leave heaven: not yet anyways.
It is a tradition of mankind.

When Did You Leave Heaven was created in 1997.
Jesus' Disciple John had visions of Heaven and God.
Heaven is a definite place described in the Bible. Jesus IS there, but he is a physical being inhabiting heaven, He is not Heaven itself. Good question.
The duration of Leave Her to Heaven is 1.83 hours.

According to the Bible, he didn't leave any remains, because he's not dead. After dying and rising again, he was translated bodily into heaven.
Jesus is with his Father in Heaven.
----------------------- We know nothing about heaven, even whether it really exists. What we can do is hope that we will see Jesus in heaven.
