There is no record in sripture records that Jesus said that we were to pay tythes . The word denotes a tenth part, given for the service of God. The first recorded instance is the payment made by Abraham to Melchizedek (Gen. 14:20; cf. Heb. 7:4-10). See also Jacob's vow (Gen. 28:22). The law enforced the payment, and provided rules with regard to the use to which the tithe should be put. In Num. 18:21-28 it is directed that tithe be paid to the Levites, who in their turn give one-tenth of what they receive to the priests.
A clear exposition of the tithe is given in Mal. 3:8-18, in which it is shown that blessings from the payment of tithing are both temporal and spiritual, and failure to pay an honest tithe is a form of robbery.
If we can believe what the Book of Mormon says then Christ does make this statement in Third Nephi Ch. 24:7-10 (This is only for your reading and not as a discussion)
7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of Hosts. But ye say: Wherein shall we return?
8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say: Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
9 Ye are cursed with a curse, for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in my house; and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of Hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
Yes it was John. Because of the words of Jesus were not fully understood when he spoke with Peter. Which is often the case today when the words of Jesus are shared.
Altar of the spilt blood of the master Jesus
The Mass is how we honor Jesus' last words at the Last Supper. Every day in every Church around the world Mass is said. See the link below for a concise summary of the Mass….this is not the place for a great theological statement
I was told that Jesus mentioned the Church only once when He made the statement "on this rock I will build my Church". I am currently checking the words of Jesus in "red". Does anyone know where I can get the answer without doing word for word.
He told Peter go and feed my sheep, meaning look after the church.
Words yours or Jesus Christs ? Jesus said do this in remembrance of me to remember his blood which pays for your ever sin so that you can stand before god without sin because of his blood which this wine represents. we are to do this when we the Church come together on the first day of the week Sunday. in memory. Not because we are worthy but in a worthy respectful manner. and in like manner the Bread represents his body. As for your words the words of the Church and you are part of the Church the BODY of Christ can be as simple as thank you LORD for your son Jesus Christ and for the sacrifice he made on the cross for us the Church that we might now receive Gods blessings through the body of Christ which this bread represent and this wine which in like manner the blood of Christ. We do this in memory of you our savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
When Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ, founded His Church, He founded it on Peter. Peter, and the other apostles were the original bishops of the Church. To be a genuine Catholic Church that is in communion with the Pope (the successor of St. Peter) and Christ, its Bishop must be ordained in the Apostolic line. Without such valid apostolic ordination, it is not a true "Church", only an ecclesial community. In other words, Apostolic tradition is the basis for the Church, revelation ended with the death of the last Apostle.
The most important then, (and should be now) is that we are saved by Grace not by works. In other words, Jesus' death on the cross for the forgiveness of sins is the atonment and there is nothing we ourselves can do but believe in Jesus, ask for our sins to be forgiven, believe that he has risen from the dead and let Him be the Lord of our life and follow Him.
Actually Jesus did not start any church, it was Paul.Roman Catholic AnswerIn Matthew 16:18 Jesus says "And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.In other words, He founded His Church on Peter and the Apostles, then after He ascended into Heaven He sent the Holy Spirit on them "to guide them into all truth." and commissioned them to go out to all the world and preach the Gospel, baptising them.
This was taken from ourcatholicfaith.org. Hope it helps! The word "catholic" means universal. Jesus created one universal church for all of mankind. The Catholic Church was established by Jesus with his words spoken in Matthew 16. Jesus asked his disciples "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" The disciples then offered various answers - "Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." But the question that Jesus then asked was crucial: "But who do you say that I am?" The answer provided by Simon Peter set in motion the formation of the Catholic Church by Jesus. "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." With this answer, Jesus established the Catholic Church with Simon Peter designated the first Pope.
This sentence was said by Jesus when He was Crucified and it was told to the thief crucified beside Him (on His right). It means that after the death of Jesus and the death of the thief crucified in His right, this thief will be with Jesus in the paradise as it is the place to which christians, good Christians, go after their death as a place to wait before the last day and after this day, good people will go from the paradise to the Eternal life with Jesus in the Heavens.Jesus said this to the thief crucified to His right because he accepted Jesus as a God and a Savior...
There is no "rapture" of the church, as this is not in the Bible. The rapture is a man made teaching that is based upon the words "caught up" in the book of Thessalonians. (1 Thess. 4) The belief is that the church will be raptured away to heaven before the second coming of Christ Jesus. The problem is, the verse they base this rapture theory on IS describing the physical second coming of Christ. It is AT the second coming of Christ Jesus that the church is "caught up" to meet Jesus in the air, NOT before.
