Yes. Jesus said this:
Mat 22:39 The second most important commandment is like it: 'Love your neighbor as you love yourself.'
If you you loved people as you love yourself no one would be violent to anyone.
In this verse:
Luk 6:29 If anyone hits you on one cheek, let him hit the other one too; if someone takes your coat, let him have your shirt as well.
Jesus is saying if some one is being violent to you don't retaliate.
Its not jesus that teaches us its the people reading from the bible and putting it in a way they believe they should teach you.
It teaches us that Jesus is the Son of God.
The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray by saying, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."
he teaches us how to love

Jesus was NEVER violent because he was perfect.
We as Christians have hope after death, as we have salvation.
jesus teaches us htis beacause he want to make us be like him
Jesus taught us to love, even our enemies , and to forgive again and again. And believe that Jesus died for our sins.
he wants us all to learn and love him.
The name Jesus means, "He will save his people: and the word Christ or messiah means he is the great deliever from God.
