Many have lobbied for John Simpson Kirkpatrick, the men who used a donkey to lead wounded men to safety at Gallipoli, to be awarded a medal. However, he has never received either of the medals for which he should have been eligible, that is, the Distinguished Conduct Medal or a VC. He was never formally recommended by the officer in question. He is at least commemorated in a large bronze sculpture at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, as well as in many other statues and exhibits around Australia.
Simpson is also commemorated in his home town of South Shields, England, where there are museum exhibits about him. A new petition has been launched to have him awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross before the 100th anniversary of his death in 2015. See the related link below.
Most personnel who served in the armed forces during WW1 were eligible for the World War 1 Victory Medal for periods of service between 1917-1918? The WWI Victory Medal had nothing to do with being wounded. US soldiers wounded received a Certificate, which later, when the Purple Heart Medal was created in 1932, could be "turned in" for a Purple Heart Medal.

The First World War aka WW1
Yes he did. Private 7244 John Paton Laurie served in the Honorouble Artillery Company.
My name is Harold Stilley and I have a 1928 world war copper medal. I would like to know the value of this medal.
A WWI English peace medal can be worth forty dollars or more. The specific value of the medal is determined by the current condition of the medal.
