Almost certainly the cheek. It seems strange to many today that kissing between men in those days was commonplace and not a sexual act at all. In some modern cultures kissing is still very common between men/women women/women and men/men. In France, for example, friends when they meet almost always exchange a kiss. This is normally done either as one kiss on each cheek, or three kisses, one on one cheek, another on the other cheek and the third returning to the first cheek again. If this etiquette is forgotten it can be seen as the height of bad manners. In Jesus' culture and time the cheek kiss was also very common and showed friendship - much like a handshake would do today. In fact, in the early Christian Church the 'Kiss of Peace' where Christians greeted each other with a kiss was an integral part of the communion service (or 'mass'). Nowadays, in the more reserved Western society, when we have a communion service in my own church we still share 'the Peace', but the kiss has now developed into a rather stiff handshake - and I reserve an actual cheek kiss for my wife when we share the Peace together, being rather worried what the other ladies in the church (and my wife!) would say if I decided to go all out for kisses all round!
He kissed him on the check to show the guards who Jesus was.

Judas had been with Jesus for a number of years and so knew Him well. He probably gave the traditional middle-eastern 'kiss' still used today between males. Hence Jesus' comment 'do you betray the Son of man with a kiss?' This 'sign' was what he told those who had come with him to look out for, that they should arrest the one he kissed.
