A prophet is someone who speaks up and takes a stand for what they believe in, even if it makes them unpopular. Nelson Mandela was an anti-apartheid activist who rebelled against apartheid, even though it got him 27 years in jail.
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela fought injustice by making peacefull protests with the rest of the ANC. Though then Nelson Mandela got arrested with about 150 other ANC leader. After that and the school childrens protest the sout africans decided to sabotage the whites. and that leaded to the release of Nelson Mandela.
During apartheid he was a Marxist-communist who supported terrorism against innocent whites. Though, after the apartheid era, he was praised for his non-violence och peace-keeping efforts during the transition from white minority rule to democracy.
His father died so he was than groomed for high office. The elders of his tribe were telling stories about their ancestors and how they did whatever they could to protect their land and he wanted to do the same.
He wanted to stop apartheid (racism against the blacks)
Not much more than existing - he spent most of his adult life in jail with essentially no communication to the outside. When he was released, apartheid was already about to crumble. Before his imprisonment he organised labour and student bodies to protest against apartheid.
When Nelson Mandela was released from prison, he became the first president of South Africa. He was the president for 5 years.
Nelson Mandela was born on July 1918 in South Africa. At the age of 21, he began to study on the University and became a lawyer in 1952. In those days in South Africa, there was a kind of segregation between Whites and non-whites. Apartheid was a kind of segregation and it was a way of live. There were separated schools, buses, hospitals and so on. Year by year many other laws were introduced. All power was given to Whites. Because of this, he joined to African National Congress. ANC was founded in 1912 by black lawyers. The ANC had 3 goals: an end to discrimination, the right for black people to buy land and full citizenship for all Africans; the ANC wanted to abolish apartheid. He felt that the organization could do more for the non-whites. In this organization, he organized non-violence protest action, like demonstration and strike. In 1960 the White government banned the ANC, but the members didn't take it seriously; Mandela and the other ANC members went underground and continued their work. In 1962, Mandela was caught by the police, because the police raided a secret ANC office. He was sentenced to the life imprisonment in the prison on Robben Island. Finally in 1990, Mandela was released from prison and he immediately got back to work (the ban of ANC, was lifted too). At the end of 1993 Mandela and the president F.W. de Klerk were given the Nobel Peace Prize for their work for peace in South Africa.
he went to jail
