The fact is that we really can't be sure about this very important question, due to the lack of writen (or other) historical evidence.
There is a strong feeling that Minoan Civilization was not a slave based society.
As far as we know, this early civilization did not even NEED slavery to be the most sucessfull traders in the Mediterranean, until its decline.
Moreover, the Minoians were very influenced by the Old Kingdom Egypt, who only had slavery under Nubian domination (760 BC to 656 BC), and later during the so called «Late Period» (the 'Saite Period') with Assyrian rulers.
Of course, after the Persian invasion and conquest, Egypt lost its identity and became a slave society.
In fact, the only reference to slavery in old Egypt before these periods, is the Old Testment, but is noteworthy that outside of the biblical account, no evidence has EVER been found indicating slavery in Egypt, before the end of the New Kingdom.
On the other hand, the Hebrews unquestionally had a slave economy.
And there is not a single word in any Hebrew sacred texts to condemn slavery...

I am not entirely sure what the question is asking. The Minoan civilization did develop on the island of Crete. Crete is to the southeast of mainland Greece.
