Damascus steel barrels can usually be recognized by visible (if the metal is bare) "twists" or striations. Do NOT fire a gun that has a Damascus steel barrel unless it has been proof tested by a qualified gunsmith. For that matter, do not fire any old firearm, Damascus steel or not, unless you are certain that the barrel can withstand the higher pressures of modern gunpowder. Safety first: take it to a qualified gunsmith if there's any doubt. See the following links for examples of Damascus steel barrels: http://www.peterdyson.co.uk/acatalog/ORIGINAL_DAMASCUS_BARRELS.html http://www.griffinhowe.com/damascus_twist.cfm
You have one of only 2,000 model 335 savage shotguns made. These shotguns were made from 1926-1935.
100-300 USD
The Model 335 was made from 1912 to 1931. I know of no serial number breakdown by year. sales@countrygunsmith.net
Depending on condition, average of $100 to $200 in 2012.
You may find this at Numrich Gun Parts Corp.
Between 130-230 dollars on today,s market.
The Model 335 was made between 1912 and 1935. The "Arms and Tool" part of the company name was dropped in 1915, so yours must have been made 1912-1915.
A 335 may have the model number on the bottom metal just ahead of the trigger guard, at least mine does. The lettering is very small, shallow, and hard to read. Mine says "MODEL 335".
Depending on which entry in the Blue Book you believe, it was either produced from 1912 to 1931 or from 1926 to 1935.
Try Gun Parts Corp. They have parts for nearly every gun ever made.
