I guess he knew how much his friends and family liked him. Things like getting mentioned in Augustine Phillips's Will must have shown him that he was genuinely liked by his colleagues.

Shakespeare was using common people in Elizabethan England as his model. He knew nothing about the common people of Ancient Rome. Mind you, we don't know much about either ourselves--for all we know, his portrayal may be accurate for either.

Romeo and Juliet or Hamlet. Most people if they know the name of only one of Shakespeare's plays will know Romeo and Juliet. However, Hamlet is more quoted, more performed, more parodied and much more studied than Romeo and Juliet is.

In order to make a good grade, tell your teacher why s/he loves Shakespeare so much, but say that is why everyone loves Shakespeare. It wouldn't do to talk about all the people who love Shakespeare for the swordfights, the bloody murders and the dirty jokes.
