Leon Trotsky.
Leon Trotsky was not the leader of the USSR because he was exiled from the country (but first the Communist Party) by Joseph Stalin. Stalin used a divide and conquer strategy, allying himself with other political figures to outnumber Trotsky.
Joseph Stalin and Leon Trotsky were the main rivals to become leader of the Soviet Union after Lenin died. Other rivals were Grigori Zinoviev, Lev Kamenev and Nikolai Bukharin, but they were fairly minor compared to Trotsky and Stalin.
Trotsky used his pen to oppose Joseph Stalin, his political arch enemy in the Bolshevik/Communist Party. After Stalin had Trotsky expelled from the Communist Party and then from the country, Trotsky wrote books and articles often criticizing Stalin and how he was betraying Marxism and the Revolution by his dictatorial ways.
Leon Trotsky never acted as a leader. The Communist was originally elected to be a successor to Vladimir Lenin, but Joseph Stalin ended up taking the spot.
Leon Trotsky used his pen to oppose Stalin.
Leon Trotsky was murdered in Mexico by a Russian agent sent by Joseph Stalin in 1940.
Lenin was leader of Bolsheviks and Trotsky was second in command until Lenin died in 1924. Lenin had appointed Trotsky People's Commissar for External Affairs after the October Revolution. Then, when the Russian Civil War broke out, Lenin appointed him Commissar of War. Lenin had picked Trotsky over Stalin to succed him but Trotsky lost out to Stalin and others for the right to succeed Lenin. Stalin managed to expel Trotsky from the Communist Party and then from the country. In 1940, Stalin had a Russian agent murder Trotsky.
In the 1920's, Leon Trotsky opposed the bureaucracy and policies of Josef Stalin. As a result, he was removed from power in 192,7 and deported from the Soviet Union in 1929. He found asylum in Mexico and continued his opposition to the Stalinist government. He and most of his family were killed on Stalin's orders.
Leon Trotsky used his pen to oppose Joseph Stalin in an attempt to improve life in Russia. However, despite his efforts, Trotsky was not effective in his opposition to Stalin due to a combination of factors such as Stalin's consolidation of power, support from key party members, and Trotsky's own political miscalculations. Trotsky's ideas and criticisms were ultimately overshadowed by Stalin's ruthless tactics and control over the Soviet government and Communist Party.
Stalin was the leader of the Soviet Union, not the US.
