Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton met through their mutual friend Amelia Bloomer in 1851 at National Women's Rights Convention in Worcester, Massachusetts. It was a followup convention from the 1848 Seneca Falls Convention in which Stanton and Anthony addressed the issues of enfranchising woman's rights, such as suffrage and ownership of property. Both conventions brought awareness to the feminist cause, although Seneca Falls, for the drafting of the Declaration of Sentiments, is more famous.
Spencer and Susan first met in the Robert B. Parker novel "Promised Land." It is the fourth book in Parker's long-running Spenser series.
Clara Barton never married. Stephen Barton was the name of her father and brother.

Clara Barton is best known for establishing the American Red Cross. She was a battlefield nurse during the Civil War and established an organization to provide medical supplies and care for the wounded following the battle of the first Bull Run. She quickly became the "lady in charge" of the hospitals serving the "Army of the James". She went on to meet Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass. She joined both of their causes becoming a well rounded social activist supporting humanitarianism, women's rights and the abolishment of slavery.
