When speaking of the American Revolutionary War, colonists, before the war came, had a few choices. One was to leave America and flee to Canada. Another was to remain loyal to Great Britain, but that caused bad feelings & worse among those colonists that were bent on declaring independence from the English. Only if the war had been a short British victory, could the loyalists have any sense of comfort.
