He wanted only those things that he gave the citizens of Virginia and the United States to be on his tombstone. He wanted nothing of what people gave him. There is no mention of being Governor of Virginia, Ambassador to France, being the first Secretary of State, Vice President or President of the United States. Just as he wanted.

Thomas Jefferson may have forgot to write his gravestone thing. So it might be the fact that one of his relatives wrote this and knew that Thomas did not want his presidency in words on his stone. His relatives might even be jealous, but other then that i have no clue.
